Helwan University’s International Students Scholarship Programme 2019 for Undergraduate (Bachelors) & Postgraduate (Masters and PhD) studies in Cairo – Egypt
Helwan University is committed to adding an International dimension to its cooperative education, and to explore new horizons for cooperation with African, Asian, and Latin-American nations. Thus, for the second consecutive year, Helwan University gladly announces 30 scholarship opportunities for International Students.
International (i.e. Non-Egyptian) students from Africa (Nile-Basin & Sub-Saharan Countries), East-Asia, South-Asia, South-East-Asia, Central-Asia, and Latin America are eligible to apply for the following scholarships (Applicants will be considered based on academic merit):

>Applicants for a Bachelor’s Degree must be holding a 2019 Secondary Education certificate (High School certificate, or an equivalent) as per the requirements of the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities (Applicants must have completed their Pre-University education in 2019).

(Masters & PhD Degree Programs) |
>Applicants for a Master’s Degree must be holding a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum overall GPA of at least 3.2 or an overall Grade of at least “Very Good”.

| >Applicants for a PhD Degree must be holding a Masters by Research degree from an accredited university (Masters by Coursework does not qualify an applicant to be enrolled into a PhD programme).

*Please notice that applicants’ adequate language skills in Arabic will be valued as an added extra when considering applications.
Types (degrees) of the Offered Grants:
*Please notice that this Scholarship covers only the Tuition Fees, and it does NOT include the accommodation expenses, monthly stipend, travel expenses, healthcare, any category of insurance (such as health insurance, … etc.), college books expenses, nor the visa expenses.

*Please notice that for the Special Study Programs, there are additional Annual Tuition Fees that are determined on yearly basis by the respective faculties.
2019 Scholarship Application Instructions
Please read the entire list of instructions below carefully. Incomplete applications or applications with missing information and attachments may not be considered. An independent panel will review the submitted applications and select scholarship winners.
- The deadline for applying is Friday, 31st May 2019, 23:59:59 CDT (Central Daylight Time / Central Daylight Saving Time).
- The application and the supporting documents should be emailed to the following email address:

- The following documents must be attached:
- A completed scholarship application form signed and dated.
- PDF of your Letter of Motivation.
- PDF of your Letter detailing the reasons why should you be selected for this grant.
- PDF scans of your diplomas and transcripts of academic records; If you still need to graduate at the time of your application, you are requested to attach PDF scans of your intermediate official transcripts. The Admissions Office reserves the right to ask for official or certified hard copies of transcripts (or diplomas) if required for the evaluation of the application.
- PDF scan of the translation of your diploma and official transcripts; If your documents are not in English, or Arabic, please arrange for these documents to be translated by a registered translator. These documents must also be certified by the educational institution that issued them.
- PDF of your CV.
- Proof of English Proficiency Certificate.
- PDF scan of the identity page of your passport.
- Only for M.Sc./Ph.D. applicants, a Research Proposal of their intended work/project.
- The scholarship acceptance/rejection emails should be sent out by Monday, 1st July 2019.
- Once accepted for a scholarship (in July 2019), the student must apply to be admitted as an international student in Egypt, the application is through the Ministry of Higher Education at the following link:
